BOTOX® in Long Island & Nassau County, NY

BOTOX® Cosmetic can soften expression lines that develop from repeated facial movement, helping the face look smoother and more refreshed without surgery. At Funt Aesthetics, Dr. David K. Funt brings extensive experience in facial anatomy, neurotoxins, and injectable techniques to treatments designed around each patient’s natural expressions.

BOTOX® works by temporarily reducing muscle activity in carefully selected areas. Rather than changing the shape of the face, treatment is intended to soften dynamic wrinkles while preserving a natural range of expression.

What Can BOTOX® Cosmetic Treat?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA-approved to temporarily improve moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, and platysma bands that connect the neck and jaw in adults.

Depending on the treatment plan, BOTOX® may be used to improve:

Other cosmetic uses, such as treatment of certain lines around the nose or mouth or adjustment of muscle activity in the jaw, may be considered off-label and should be discussed individually with the treating provider.

How Does BOTOX® Work?

BOTOX® Cosmetic contains onabotulinumtoxinA, a neuromodulator that temporarily blocks nerve signals to targeted muscles. When those muscles contract less strongly, the overlying skin can appear smoother, and expression lines become less noticeable.

This makes BOTOX® especially useful for dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated movements such as frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows.

Treatment is temporary. As muscle activity gradually returns, lines may become more visible again, and additional treatment can be considered.

What Happens During a BOTOX® Treatment?

BOTOX® treatment is relatively quick. Dr. Funt uses a series of small injections into specific muscles, based on the area being treated and the patient’s facial movements.

A cold pack or topical numbing product may be used for comfort, although many patients describe the injections as brief pinches. The appointment itself can often be completed within a short office visit.

Precise placement is important because small differences in injection location and dose can influence brow position, facial expression, symmetry, and the overall result.

When Will BOTOX® Results Appear?

BOTOX® does not take effect immediately. Patients may begin noticing changes within several days, with results continuing to develop after treatment.

The effect gradually wears off as normal nerve signaling and muscle movement return. Many patients schedule repeat treatments periodically to maintain their preferred level of correction.

The timing and duration of results vary according to the treatment area, muscle strength, dose, and individual response.

BOTOX® Recovery and Possible Side Effects

Most patients can return to routine activities shortly after treatment. Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising can occur around the injection sites.

BOTOX® Cosmetic can also cause side effects such as headache, eyelid or brow drooping, muscle weakness, and other reactions. The FDA-approved prescribing information carries a boxed warning that botulinum toxin effects can, in rare cases, spread beyond the injection site and cause serious problems such as difficulty swallowing or breathing.

Patients should review their medical history and medications before treatment and receive BOTOX® only from a qualified medical professional.

Medical Uses for BOTOX®

BOTOX® is also used medically for several conditions separate from BOTOX® Cosmetic. FDA-approved therapeutic uses include prevention of headaches in adults with chronic migraine, treatment of severe underarm sweating when topical treatments are inadequate, cervical dystonia, certain muscle-spasticity conditions, and some forms of overactive bladder.

These treatments use different dosing and injection patterns from cosmetic BOTOX®. Patients interested in therapeutic treatment should be evaluated specifically for the condition being addressed.

Why Choose Funt Aesthetics for BOTOX®?

BOTOX® treatment depends heavily on a detailed knowledge of how facial muscles move and interact. Dr. David K. Funt has made facial anatomy and injectable technique a major focus of his professional career. He teaches anatomy courses involving neurotoxins and fillers, lectures nationally and internationally, and has been featured in instructional programs for other medical professionals.

Dr. Funt is also a national instructor for major aesthetic companies and has extensive experience managing complications related to injectable treatments. That background is especially relevant with BOTOX®, where small differences in placement can affect expression, symmetry, and brow position. At Funt Aesthetics, treatment is planned around the individual pattern of muscle movement so lines can be softened without creating a rigid or unnatural appearance.
